The effects of technology on sleep have been studied for decades. One recent study by Gradisar and colleagues looked at how children use their phones and other technology before bed. They found that children who used their phones and other devices right before bedtime got about thirty minutes less sleep than those who did not use any technology before bed. They also had difficulty falling asleep. Even younger children had trouble sleeping after using their phones.
