Or quickly head back home because you forgot to turn off the thermostat on the way out to work?

Nope! Smart Thermostats come with their own respective mobile applications that are downloadable onto smartphones and tablets, while some are also voice control compatible! That means you can just pick up your phone regardless of wherever you are and control your smart thermostat from there.

What’s more, smart thermostats are energy efficient in the way that they work. Most of them can turn themselves down after a certain time of inactivity, or switch to an eco-friendly mode if it notices you’re away from home. Users can also set up operational schedules for the device to follow through so that it can cut back on energy consumption as well. How to Install a Smart Thermostat

Here are a few general steps involved in installing a smart thermostat in your home. Remember, given that electrical wiring is involved, it might be a good idea to call in a professional if you’re not too sure of it yourself.

  1. Turn off the power from the circuit breaker to the Thermostat outlet in order to avoid any accidents.
  2. Remove the existing thermostat controller device from its wall mount and disconnect the wiring from the device itself.
  3. Place the new mounting plate (if needed) on the outlet and make sure to gently take the wiring out through the opening of the plate.
  4. Before placing in the new smart thermostat, you must attach the wiring to their correct terminals behind the device. Use the instruction manual.
  5. Some smart thermostats require a battery so you must be sure to put one in.
  6. Place the smart thermostat into its wall mount and switch the device on if there is a power button.
  7. The next step involves connecting your device to the home Wi-Fi network and to configure it from your smartphones or tablets – the smart thermostat’s mobile app basically.
